EVENTS

Here is a calendar of events that have brought us to this point in our career.

60 minutes

80's

Soho and Union Square

New York City

I lived in New York City throughout most of the 80's.  Though there was a good deal of travel to Africa, Europe and South America, my principal gig was with 60 minutes, where I worked with Cameraman, Kevin Cloutier, shooting in distant locations with celebrities and celebrity hosts through the world.   While working my day job, I produced a documentary entitled Women Of Iron, with famed athletes, Debora Diana and Carla Dunlap.  It's hard to shorten the story of the making of that film.  I had a private war with a fellow director named George Butler, who did his best to thwart my release of the film as he was producing one himself called Pumping Iron II: The Women.  Mine was a more intimate story, but his was also interesting albeit somewhat sensational with the introduction to the sport of Bev Francis and a made up event at Ceasar's Palace.

When / Where:

Yellow Springs, Ohio,

Boston, Mass

Valencia, CA

After  transferring from Antioch College and Graduating from California Institute of the Arts, I took a job as "Sacha Deal" and donned a bright blue blazer and checkered pants at the old Wompoppers Barn atop the Universal Studio lot.  One could not be closer to the movies and so far away at the same time.  Though I hated the job, it paid and I had a handle bar mustache at the time, so I fit in well.  I didn't stay long as I soon secured some film work at Cal State Northridge working with the media department where i producer and created a film about the JPL Solar Observatory.  This was my second project, as the first, The Golden Sher which I made in College, had been picked up by KQED in San Francisco. Thanks to my friend and singing artist, Charles Lane, it also had an extended run on Westinghouse Broadcasting.

Back to California

Back in California, I produced for Writer Herschel Weingrod and Director Salome Breziner while supporting the development of "After Dark My Sweet" and "Denial" Starring Robin Wright.  My success with these projects led me to a partnership with Dan Halperin and producing the Pilot, Rosemary, for our Picture Windows Series.

When / Where:

The old offices of Elvis Presley in the RCA building on Sunset, now the LA Film School. We had the Penthouse.

When / Where:

Life in Los Angles, 18 years living on Esther Avenue.

My son, Milo, was born in March of 1990.  He was a beautiful boy and has grown into a open hearted, delightful human being.  He's also amazingly good looking which has helped him secure work in the modelling industry, though that is not his first love.  I married Karen Anderson in 1998 at the old Union Station (where Rosemary was shot) and we had a daughter, Kael, in 2000.  Kael is now 15 and like her brother before her, she attends New Roads School after graduating from Ocean Charter, where I made pancakes for her classmates every Friday for about seven years.  I miss it.

Children and Life Changes

Emmy Nom Nod

After directing the 1 hour TV special: AIDS: The Facts of Life with Susan Sarandon and James Taylor, I wrote and edited the CBS Series, When I Grow Up.   This generated an unexpected Emmy Nomination for writing and helped carry me to California in 1989.

Union Square Offices of Frank Film Inc.

When / Where:

Every Thursday from 8pm

Epiphany was formed in 1990.  Dan and I produced Rosemary, our pilot project, for which we secured the support of Mr. Earl Lestz of Paramount.  We enjoyed further support from Panavision, Warner Brothers, Fox Technicolor and Western Costume whereby we created the 1940's period show that enabled us to win the attention of Cathy Konrad and her boss at the time, Norman Jewison, to come on board and partner with us on the series.  Though there were many pitfalls through the development process, we produced a total of seven shows, received an Emmy and sevearl Ace awards and made some really terrific programs.  The directors were: Norman Jewison, John Boorman, Joe Dante, Jonathan Kaplan, Peter Bogdanovich, Bob Rafelson and Dan Halperin. Our premier was hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, an appropriate venue for the launch of a series inpsired by Paintings.
